It seems that more and more sequels are getting made each day which I am on the fence about. Gatchaman was better known in North America as Battle of the Planets.
One of the earlier introductions to anime for the North American viewer, Gatchaman unfortunately was heavily edited and an additional character was added; the much loathed 7-Zark-7. The main purpose of 7-Zark-7 was to explain the plot holes left by the editing; which he did not do well. Here’s hoping that the current version is closer to the Japanese original and less like the Sandy Frank butchery.
Here’s a trailer released July 09. Looks promising for sure
